This fee is set by the Australian Government and applies to all residents unless financial hardship has been approved. The amount is reviewed twice yearly, in March and September.

Means-Tested Care Fee

Depending on your income and assets, the Government may determine that you contribute towards the cost of your care. One of 2 different types of fee arrangements apply if you enter residential aged care on or after 1 November 2025. These may include the following fees and contributions:

1 November 2025 fee arrangements – basic daily fee, hotelling contribution, non-clinical care contribution, higher everyday living fee

1 July 2014 fee arrangements – basic daily fee, means tested care fee, higher everyday living fee.

Additionally, if you were receiving a Home Care Package or approved and waiting for a package on or before 12 September 2024, and you subsequently move into residential care, you are protected by the ‘no worse off principle’ and will pay fees under the 1 July 2014 fee arrangements. Otherwise, you will be on the 1 November 2025 fee arrangements. This fee is assessed by either the Department of Human Services or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs following your Income and Assets Assessment. If you choose not to complete the assessment, you may be charged the maximum applicable fee.

Accommodation Costs

In residential aged care, accommodation costs can be paid in different ways depending on your financial circumstances and personal preference. Your accommodation contribution is also determined by your Income and Assets Assessment. You may choose from the following accommodation payment options:

RAD (Refundable Accommodation Deposit)
A full lump sum payment which is refundable when you leave the Home, less any agreed deductions. However, for any new admissions after the 1st of November, 2025, a 2% per annum RAD Retention is applicable with a maximum 10% over a 5 year period. The RAD works similarly to an interest-free loan to the provider and is protected under Australian Government legislation.

DAP (Daily Accommodation Payment)
A daily accommodation payment if you choose not to pay a lump sum

Combination Payment
Part lump sum and part daily payment

Choosing the right option is an important financial decision, and families may wish to seek independent financial advice. If no financial assessment is completed, you will be required to pay the full accommodation cost.

Additional Information

Fees are charged fortnightly in advance

Payments are made via direct debit

A Direct Debit Authority Form will be completed upon admission

Pharmacy accounts are arranged directly by families upon admission

We currently work with Dennis Higgins Pharmacy and MAP Pharmacy at Fourways

Optional services such as room telephones and clothing name labels will appear on your invoice if requested

Helpful Resources

My Aged Care provides a helpful online Fee Estimator to assist families in understanding residential aged care costs and payment options. https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/aged-care-home-fee-estimator

For further information from My Aged Care, please check out their site: Aged care home costs and fees | My Aged Care or call 1800 200 422.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1780033547149{margin-top: 20px !important;}”][vc_column]Download Application for Entry[/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”1259″ img_size=”large” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] Our Admissions Making the decision to move into residential aged care can feel overwhelming, particularly if you or your loved one are currently in hospital or finding it difficult to manage safely at home. At Francis of Assisi Home, we understand that this is a significant life transition.
